A PET/CT  image producing a more clear and distinct image than a normal CT scan.

PET/CT Scanner - The most advanced diagnostic equipment

Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is rapidly becoming a major presence and severity of cancers,

neurological conditions, and cardiovascular disease. It is currently the most effective way to

check for cancer recurrences. This powerful medical technology allows our doctors to see

and track the spread of malignant cancer cells in the body. Combining the PET scan with a CT (computerized tomography)

scan allows doctors to precisely pinpoint the location of cancer cells in the body.

The PET/CT (Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography) scanner combines

two types of radiological scans in one to create the best diagnostic tool medically available to

determine the presence and severity of cancers. Our 3D option provides ultra-fast detector electronics that

substantially improves image quality, with up to 70 percent better count rate performance under typical scan conditions.

The advantages offered by this most advanced diagnostic imaging tool are

Early Detection: Because PET images biochemical activity, it can accurately characterize a tumor

as benign or malignant, thereby avoiding over treatment and thereby saving costs. Conversely,

because a PET scan images the entire body, our  doctors can plan with pin-point accuracy specific

treatment plans for distant metastasis.

Stages of Cancer: PET is extremely sensitive in determining the full extent of disease, especially

in lymphoma, malignant  melanoma, breast, lung, colon and cervical cancers. Confirmation of

metastatic disease allows our doctors and the patient to more accurately decide on the

procedures for the management of the disease.

Checking for recurrences: PET is currently considered to be the most accurate

diagnostic procedure to differentiate tumor recurrences from radiation necrosis or post-therapy changes.

Such an approach allows for the development of a more rational treatment plan for the patient.

Assessing the Effectiveness of Therapies: The level of tumor metabolism is compared on PET/CT

scans taken before and after treatments. A successful response seen on a PET scan would

therefore be an earlier indicator of tumor response than that seen with other diagnostic modalities.

The Siemens biograph 16 which we are using, offers the ultimate PET/CT performance for improved

disease diagnosis and treatment  in oncology, neurology, and cardiology.

It delivers high-quality PET/CT whole body scans in less than 15 minutes. Our hospital is

therefore able to offer a complete solution to all your diagnostic imaging needs.
